This graceful lighthouse is nestled into the north facing dunes on the shore of Lake Erie on Presque Isle State Park. After many pre-dawn scouting trips to establish this composition, I returned on the morning of June 21st, 2023. The solstice sunrise provides the most northerly and direct light on this iconic building. This final print was created from a five frame panorama. The surreal glow seen low in the dawn sky was sunlight filtered through atmospheric smoke from the epic Canadian Wildfires raging through the spring and summer of 2023. These amazing atmospheric conditions and the annual northernmost positioning of the sun combined to make this a truly unique vision of this historic structure.
